DP World Maputo: New and bigger challenges every day

In order to provide the national market with adequate port infrastructure, DP World Maputo invested in expansion and modernization of the Container Terminal, making it one of the most modern private terminals in the country, with the main objective of increasing the capacity and competitiveness of Maputo Port.

DP World Maputo recently received, in October 2016, the latest and most sophisticated equipment for handling of containerized cargo, the RTG's (Rubber Tire Gantry) in the quantity of 6. This equipment of the manufacturer KONECRANES will aid in the handling of containers in the terminal, the RTG was designed for manual storage of containers with space saving in medium sized terminals. They can be configured with amplitude for up to seven container rows, plus runways and stack up to the 6th height in the High-Cube container stack, plus the capacity below the spreader up to 65 tons.

We are also committed to build sustainability:

The fully electric operating system is supplied by means of a diesel generator or, alternatively, through an external power supply, which not only reduces operating costs but also reduces pollutant emissions and noise pollution levels at the terminal. In addition, other technologies are available for energy savings, such as the hybrid function versions, in order to make the operation of the RTG's even more economical and environmentally correct.

The management of DP World Maputo points out that the newly acquired equipment is the most modern in the world for container operation and will put the company at the forefront of technology in the sector.

Our terminal will be differentiated and high productivity, and therefore we invest in machines with the latest technology, in safety and also in the training of our workers.
